The versitile eight piece band plays music from turn of the century ragtime to New Orleans and chicago style dixieland, while not forgetting to play a few modern pieces as well.
Containing an hour of both tabasco-hot, uptempo tunes like "Muskrat Ramble" and "Bourbon Street Parade" as well as mellow, charbroiled and smoky tunes like "Sleepytime down South," the Red Hot Peppers "Bourbon Street Bash" is a 13 course audio feast prepared by some of the finest jazz chef's you could imagine.
The front line of the Red Hot Peppers consists of three veteran horn players known collectively as "the Duke City Horns." Trumpeter Billy Morris, reed player Arlen Asher, and trombonist Larry Case have been playing together for over thirty years! On the vocal tracks, such as the re-interpretation of Duke Ellington's "What a Wonderful World," we are gently introduced to the silky smooth vocals of Laura Brown. A steady backbeat for the songs is provided by the guitar and banjo workings of Bob Brown combined with the solid bass work of Alan Lewine and the top class drums of Cal Haines.
Recorded live at KUNM studios by Larry Kronin, the Red Hot Peppers "Bourbon Street Bash" has been nominated for MIC awards in the areas of Best Producer, Album of the Year and Best Musical Production/Remake for "Caravan" and "Summertime."
